God loves me

The whole story of the Bible is one of God’s love for us. He is a loving God, and He loves you!

The Bible repeatedly talks about just how much God loves us, and the lengths he would go to demonstrate that love.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9

This passage even goes on to remind us that he loved us first before we had any idea who God is, or what He has done for us.

I have sinned

Sadly, we have been separated from the amazing love of God, and the reason is not God’s fault but ours.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We have all failed to meet the standards God set for humanity, and because of that we have a debt that must be paid. The debt is too great for anyone to repay, it would cost our lives, so God sent Jesus to pay it for us.

Jesus died for me

God made a way for us to come to Himself, Jesus is the way, and His death paid for our debt.

Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Jesus death and resurrection offer us the opportunity of forgiveness, and a fresh start with God. We can exchange all the mess in our lives for all the perfection that Jesus lived His with.

It is a gift that we could never deserve, but God loved us enough to make it possible at great cost to Himself.

I need to decide to live for God

God has done His part. Jesus gave His own life as a punishment for our sin. We didn’t deserve it. It wasn’t ‘fair’ but that’s how much God loves you.

But now you have to decide if you want to accept this gift of forgiveness, this promise of eternal life. If you want to be free from the punishment you brought on yourself by not doing things God’s way, you need to decide to surrender to God and do things His way from now on. You need to believe that He exists, that He loves you and that He died for you.

Romans 10v9 says, “if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Dear Lord
Thank you for loving me.
I admit I have done wrong in my life, living how I want and not how you want.
I believe that you came to earth in Jesus, died on the cross for me and came back to life again, so I can have a new life too.
I have considered that it is a big decision, a life changing decision.
But I have decided to follow Jesus with all my life.
Please will you send the Holy Spirit to help me and guide me.
